R.J. MCELROY TRUST GRANT APPLICATION AND GUIDELINES

Application Guidelines:

Before you begin the application, please talk to the Executive Director, Stacy Van Gorp. Call 319-287-9102 or e-mail vangorp@mcelroytrust.org. We ask you to do this so we can learn more about the project and to ensure eligibility.

Please be sure to review the list of eligibility requirements before beginning your application.
There is no page limit but we encourage you to keep applications succinct. We recommend applications of 2 – 4 pages (without counting attachments).
Type and single-space all proposals. Please do not use a font smaller than 10.
You are welcome to include a one-page cover letter to introduce the project.
Answer all questions in the order listed. Use the headings, subheadings and numbers provided.
Please submit one copy of the application and attachments by mail.
Please do not submit applications electronically.
Please do not submit your proposal in binders or folders.
Proposals must be postmarked by April 1, June 1, September 1 or December 1.

VII. Attachments

Line item budget for the project. Include expenses and revenue sources.
A copy of the letter from the IRS verifying your organization’s 501(c)3 status. (Not required for government agencies.)
List of your current Board of Directors.
Copy of the organization’s current operating budget.
Copy of the most recent audited financial statement, including management letter. (If your organization does not conduct an audit you may include a copy of your most recent 990 instead.

Notes about attachments:

If you have completed the Cedar Valley Metro Funders Agency Profile form for another funder you are welcome to submit that document as well.
If you have been awarded funding in the last 12 months, and your tax exempt status has not changed, you do not need to resubmit the IRS letter.
If there is a reason you are not submitting an attachment, please make a note in the application.
