What do you enjoy most about teaching? I most enjoy the opportunities to build relationships and see student growth. It's amazing to see how much 9th graders develop academically and mature socially thoughout their freshman year.
What do you find most challenging about teaching? Every day is different and thinking on your feet and being highly flexible is a definite must now in the educational world. While these aspects can lead to stress, these problem-solving moments can also be highly rewarding.
Best tip for new teachers: Stay the course! There will be good days and trying days in teaching, but know that you're doing the right work!
Best tip for career teachers: You're in the right profession and you're a key part within education. Keep pressing on and know that you're building and molding young minds the right way.
Favorite piece of advice for students: Enjoy your time as a student, but work hard. Rewards and accolades come now as well as later.
What does being a Gold Star Teacher mean to you? Being a Gold Star Teacher is quite a recognition. I'm thankful to the committee and all that have helped me get to this point, especially including my family that has allowed me to have the long nights planning lessons and grading. Teaching is not an easy profession, but any sort of affirmation acknowledging that what is being done is the right work, is something that means a lot to me.
